2011 NY Auto Show ‘Fuel Efficient Cars’ Clip - THORNE

(4.23.11) Taking the wraps off. I was there for the unveiling of Hyundai’s brand new Accent at theNew York International Auto Show. And no wonder. With gas prices hovering above a gallon, an estimated 80% of Americans are choosing their cars based on fuel economy. For Mazda that means rolling out something called ‘Skyactiv Technology’. Mazda’s figured out a way to make regular engines deliver better gas mileage than ever before. 2011 NY International Auto Show ‘Concept Cars Clip’ - THORNE

(4.23.11) Mazda kicks off our journey into the world of high tech high design and high style concept cars with their “Minagi” concept. Over in this corner at the New York International Auto Show is the Toyota Prius C concept. The Prius C is marketed as a city-centric hybrid vehicle designed to appeal to young singles and couples who want an eco-sensitive, high-mileage fun to drive car. Spacious interior in a compact package means high urban appeal how you like that New York! And howya like this - the Volkswagen Bulli. A concept car both cute and oh so cool. VW says it’s the latest evolution of the iconic microbus and reveals it’s powered by an electric motor fitted with six-seat and infotainment control via IPAD! The Cadillac Urban Luxury Concept might catch your eye too. The company says it was conceived for city-dwellers in urban centers like New York where tight confined parking areas for apartments and office buildings are the norm. It seats four with scissor-type doors, powered by a turbocharged one liter three cylinder engine projected to deliver up to 65 miles per gallon.
