Nissan Maxima Video Review - Kelley Blue Book
2009 Nissan Maxima (For Pricing, Specs, Reviews & More visit www.kbb.com ). In its heyday, the Nissan Maxima was king of the sport sedan niche. Blessed with good looks, sporty handling and a price that put it on par with more mundane offerings, the Maxima soon gained a loyal following. But the last two generations of Maxima’s didn’t live up to the “four-door sports car” reputation earned by the original, growing larger, slower and absent a sporting edge. The newest Maxima …

I’d rather get the G37 or TL instead of the Maxima. At least those cars don’t make you put up with the CVT, you get the thrill of the shift shock. The Acura and Infiniti dealership give you a loaner car if your Acura or Infiniti is in for service. Nissan dealers will make you suffer the musty courtesy van and rude driver…if they even have one.

Most premium luxury Japanese brands are still made and assembled in Japan.

It’s not made in Japan. It is made in Smyrna, Tennessee, USA. Along with nearly every other Japanese Car now days. Same goes with the German cars, i.e. the Mercedes Benz GL, and ML, which are made in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA. Whilst most American car companies are assembling their cars in Canada/Mexico.

I have owned the 2009 Maxima with Sports and Tech packages for the last 2 months. It’s the best car I have ever owned, far better than my old Infiniti G35 Coupe. My wife far prefers my car than her BMW 330i, I’m inclined to agree :oD I used to work for Nissan corporate and this is the best Nissan I have driven (and I’ve driven them all!)

I too am a 97 SE owner. I’ve been waiting for something to catch my eye on the maxima line and it looks like this 09 yr maybe the one. My 97 might die out soon. so it maybe time for a change. I agree with you give it an AWD ^.^

its big and heavy, it does not corner nicely, and its ugly…if your considering a car in this class, i suggest you check infiniti g35 or Acura TL.

November 29th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
If they put a RWD or an AWD on a Maxima, then there wont be a need for the G37.

And since I’m chatting here, am I the only one who has noticed a bias in favor of Honda and Toyota by virtually all automotive reviewers through the years? I owned a Toyota Camry and spent thousands on repair bills, yet every car Toyota makes gets high praise from the auto writers/reviewers. Nissan makes much better cars but generally gets luke warm responses from the industry. Honda and Toyota make boring cars. May as well drive a Buick or a Chevy Impala.

I’ve owned a Maxima for ten years, a 1997 GLE, the best and most reliable car I’ve ever had. I didn’t like the rather derivative model that came right after it from 2000 to 2003 and the model that began in 2004 I liked even less. This new car is very nice, I like the styling, but Maxima has an identity crisis. If it’s truly a “sports sedan” it should lose the FWD lay-out and the CVT. Go to AWD and a 5 or 6 speed automatic with an optional manual tranny. Then this car would really rock!

what on earth are they talking about? this is WAY more “reserved” than the previous generation, the previous maxima looked like a retarded space ship…that rear end is fine…kbb sux at reviews

???…u can’t be serious…that has to be a joke
