  1. Nah we had the choke on :)
Didn’t you see every time it started it would stall, it’s because the choke was on. And at the end when the choke was off he could give it throttle and it would stay started !

  8. the bike has sat outside for all that time on that shitty farm, and it has a fucked coil pack and only runs on 2 cylinders. and it still starts up after all that abuse? i wouldnt call it a piece of shit, i would call it a fucking miracle. one of the best engines ever made. well done suzuki.

  10. The motor on the Suzuki Gs is well-known as one of, if not THE most reliable dohc four of the 80s. There are many on the road today working fine w/ nothing more than basic maintenance.

However, even this venerable block will deteriorate with a completely negligent owner who leaves his bike outside for a year in high-grass. The fact that it even started without a total rebuild is just incredible, and a testament to the GS’ over-engineered reliability.

  20. Free up your throttle linkages. Ease the choke a little. Don’t rev so aggressively in neutral.
There is a lot of motorcycle there, and the motor sounds reasonable. I hear no rattles that would bother me.
I owned the earlier version, the 850GN, and it really is a sound motor.
Respect it a little. With some carb work cleaning the jets, and a tank re-spray, that would be a solid bike.
